With this third single of the year Northern Trails return to their Americana roots with an acoustically driven track featuring powerfully stacked vocals and racing energetic drums.
Fourth of July is probably the most romantic song from Northern Trails by the time of writing. It was written as the story of an old man brought up to trust noone and to reject the concept of love. As he wakes up from a car accident, he realizes (with a little help) that he has spent his life in loneliness.
The cover art for Fourth of July was made by Uppsala artist Fredrik Hardenborg. Fredrik drew inspiration to this piece from the American painter Edward Hopper, who himself explored loneliness and solitude in his work.
