Hearts Went Frozen is inspired by the TV show Dexter, where the main character Dexter Morgan is hard to dislike despite being a serial killer and in reality impossible to sympathize with. The song takes place in the thoughts of a self-pitying psychopath and is an americana influenced indie rock track with a whistle hook that draws the mind to Ennio Morricone’s masterpiece The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
