Our intellectual property & DMCA policy

Sonikcat respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects everyone who uses the platform — labels, artists, and visitors alike — to do the same. We've adopted the notice-and-takedown procedure described below, in line with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), to handle claims that music, artwork, or other content hosted on Sonikcat infringes someone's copyright or other intellectual property rights.

Reporting infringement

If you believe that content available through Sonikcat infringes a copyright you own or control, please send a written notice to our designated agent (see Contact, below) that includes:

A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorized to act on their behalf.
Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — for example, a direct link to the artist, release, or track page in question.
Your contact information, including your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Our response

When we receive a notice that meets the requirements above, we will:

Remove or disable access to the material identified in the notice.
Notify the account holder who uploaded the material that it has been removed.
Terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the account of a user who is a repeat infringer.

Counter-notice

If material you posted was removed in error or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to our designated agent containing:

Your physical or electronic signature.
Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district and will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
