Terms of Use
The rules for using Sonikcat
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Sonikcat — our dashboard, and the public label and artist sites we host on behalf of our users. By creating an account or otherwise using Sonikcat, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Sonikcat account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know right away if you suspect unauthorized access. Information you give us when registering must be accurate, and you may not impersonate someone else or use a name you don't have the right to use.
Your content
Uploading a release to Sonikcat doesn't transfer ownership of your music — you keep it. By uploading music, artwork, lyrics, or other content, you grant Sonikcat a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, stream, reproduce, and display that content solely as needed to operate the service — for example, serving your public artist and release pages, generating Electronic Press Kits, and, where you've enabled it, fulfilling paid downloads.
You must own or control the rights to everything you upload. If a track includes a cover song or a sample, you're responsible for having the necessary permissions and licenses before publishing it through Sonikcat.
Fees & payments
Some Sonikcat features — such as digital downloads and running multiple label or artist projects — are paid features, priced on our pricing page. Payments are processed by Stripe; we don't store your card details.
Where you sell digital downloads through Sonikcat, you set your own prices. A platform fee, disclosed to you at setup, is deducted from each sale before the remainder is paid out to you. You're responsible for any taxes owed on your sales, and for any royalties or licensing fees owed to songwriters, performers, or rights holders.
Sales of digital downloads to fans are final unless required otherwise by law. If a purchase is later reversed — for example through a chargeback — you may be liable for the reversed amount.
Fan & subscriber information
If you collect fan email addresses through Sonikcat — for release notifications or a mailing list — you may only use that information to communicate with those fans about your own music. You may not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose it to third parties, and you must honor unsubscribe requests promptly.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Sonikcat to:
- Upload content you don't have the rights to, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
- Upload content that's unlawful, defamatory, or otherwise violates a third party's rights.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to access accounts or data that aren't yours.
- Use the service for anything other than its intended purpose of publishing and selling music.
Third-party services
Sonikcat integrates with third-party services — such as Stripe for payments, and Facebook and Instagram for social publishing — and public artist pages may link to external sites. We aren't responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service, and your use of them is subject to their own terms.
Termination
You may stop using Sonikcat and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, with or without notice. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including content ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
Disclaimer & limitation of liability
Sonikcat is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
To the extent permitted by law, Sonikcat is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including lost revenue or lost data.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know by email or through a notice in the dashboard. Continuing to use Sonikcat after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
